The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology IPK in Berlin examines the possibilities offered by laser technology for the machining of materials that are too hard to process by conventional metal-cutting or EDM applications.

Innovative, hard materials are increasingly demanded in many fields, e.g. in the automotive industry.

The Fraunhofer IPK employs a KUGLER Microgantry® nano3X in R&D. The attainable accuracies of the machine tool are below 10 micrometer.
